Daphne Sumner Ali
Daphne Sumner Ali, successful model, publicist, and event planner, uses her talent and her style to help others and serve her community.
Daphne is a wife, mother, daughter, entrepreneur, mentor, and model. Her endeavors are quite impressive, and when we met her on facebook, we were inspired by her tenacity and impressed with her style.
Daphne started modeling three years ago when she and her husband put together an all female promotions team named The Kismet Dollz, a branch of their entertainment company Kismet Entertainment, to help promote their events and other artists.
At that point, she didn’t realize the impact that plus size women were making in the world. “People would also comment on how I held my own in photos with the ‘skinny models’,” said Daphne who is also the National Model Director and Lead Liaison for the Augusta, Georgia team for Project Curve Appeal.
“I have been a part of Project Curve Appeal since May 2009, and I love every minute of it,” said Daphne of her work with the multicultural organization dedicated to promoting, presenting, and empowering positive women with Curve Appeal.
“I’ve also felt a need to encourage women of any size to be all that they can be which is why I’m involved in different organizations. Image is important to me and I feel that the business ventures and organizations that I’m involved with are the best examples of Image for women.”
Daphne’s desire to promote a positive image for women was the impetus for her work with the team of Six Twelve Magazine where she is the Executive Business Coordinator. She also does some freelance fashion writing and is currently a contributing Fashion Writer for Solid Women’s Magazine, and Fashion Editor for a new magazine called Color Me Curvy which is focused on the plus size woman.
To help her continue to inspire, uplift, and empower women and girls while also incorporating her professional services, Daphne established the Kismet Diva Project. The Kismet Diva project is very personal to Daphne and her way of giving back and recognizing other women who are making an impact in their communities and beyond.
Community services seems to be in Daphne’s DNA as exemplified by her work as the National Director of Training and Development for Mocha Sisters Organization, an organization that emphasizes community service, networking, sisterhood, mentoring in addition to providing scholarships for high school seniors.
But Daphne is as professional and enterprising as they come and her newest venture LushLyf Enterprises consists of public relations, model management, image services, styling services, and event planning.
Now that you’ve met Daphne, you can see why we were so impressed. Her life is an inspiration to us all, but for Daphne, her work is all secondary to what she find most important:
First and foremost I’m a mom, wife, and daughter. I believe in having a stable foundation. And that foundation begins at home. Without the support of my family, I would not be able to do the things I do.
We love Daphne’s style, so we attempted to recreate one of her fashionable outfits below. All the “where to buy” details are listed.
